Shah returns to haunt Panthers Shah: showed former employers what they are missing

Owais Shah gave the Lord's faithful a painful reminder of his talents, blasting 78 not out to lead Essex Eagles to a five-wicket win over Middlesex Panthers in the Friends Life t20.

Having represented Middlesex as man and boy, Shah was unceremoniously dumped at the end of last season.

And, after a stint in the IPL, the former England batsman is rebuilding his career with Essex.

Having been set a target of 151, the Eagles lost openers Ravi Bopara and Mark Pettini for ducks to slump to 1-2.

Shah rescued the situation with five fours and five sixes in his 50-ball contribution as the visitors got home with 12 balls to spare.

From 88-5 in the 13th over, Essex captain James Foster (30no) provided Shah with a willing ally in an unbroken stand of 67.

Earlier, Middlesex captain Neil Dexter top scored with 32 in a total of 150-5 after choosing to bat first.

New Zealand seamer Tim Southee was the pick of the Essex attack with 3-21.
