Razzaq strikes down Lightning Razzaq: power-hitting masterclass

Abdul Razzaq hammered 62 off 30 balls to rescue Leicestershire Foxes from a near-hopeless position and earn a four-wicket victory over Lancashire Lightning at Old Trafford.

Pakistan all-rounder Razzaq, making his Foxes bow having arrived in the country the previous day, came to the crease with the visitors struggling at 72-4 in the 10th over of their pursuit of a revised target of 165 from 19 overs.

That became 99-6 in the 15th over as Andrew McDonald (57) and Jacques du Toit (2) went in quick succession and Leicestershire still required 62 off the last four overs.

Razzaq suddenly sprung into action, blasting three fours and five sixes as Leicestershire got home from the penultimate delivery.

The equation had been reduced to 10 needed from Kyle Hogg's final over but Wayne White, who contributed 17 off 10 balls to an unbroken seventh-wicket stand of 66 from 34, promptly dispatched the first offering back over Hogg's head for six.

Earlier, Lancashire were mainly reliant on an 88-run opening stand between Stephen Moore (48) and Tom Smith (45) to reach a total of 162-5 in an innings that was twice halted by rain.

The second of those interruptions saw the match reduced to a 19-over affair.
