Headingley washed out

Headingley washed out Headingley: no play possible

Yorkshire's hopes of recording a third straight win in the Friends Life t20 came to a damp end as their game with Northamptonshire was washed out.

The heavens opened around an hour before play was due to get underway in the Sky live game at Headingley on Sunday afternoon.

Umpires Neil Bainton and Neil Mallender finally had no other option but to call the game off at 3pm, meaning both teams net a point each.

It was Yorkshire's first blank day of the season in any form of cricket and comes after back-to-back victories over Worcestershire and Lancashire in the North Group.

The Tykes now have to wait until Friday for their next t20 action when they will host Lancashire in the Roses clash at Headingley.

Northamptonshire, who were propping up the table with just one win from their first four outings, play on Wednesday against Warwickshire at Wantage Road.
